Margaret Bartlett, wife of Israel Hilton in 1756 at the time of Israel Hilton Buker’s birth.
Margaret Bartlett is the disputed parent of Israel Hilton Buker. This is the evidence available showing her potential relationship to Israel Hilton Buker.
Problematic birth: Israel Hilton Buker’s reported birth was 17 Apr 1756. There is currently no primary source documentation supporting the date shared by Buker family historians amongst online family trees. Currently, we do not know where his recognized birth date originated.
There is a family bible housed at the Independence Historical Museum and Art Center in Independence, Missouri featuring D.A.R. donations. The Buker Family Bible was donated by Julia Bolt, from Bolton, who received it from her great-grandmother in 1803. Her grandmother received the bible from an elderly aunt. This bible will need to be reviewed to see if it contains family information.
Family Historian, ancestry user TreeKeeper04974, visited The Henry Pennell Municipal Complex on 2 Aug 2018 to photograph Gray, Maine vital records which included the birth dates of 10 of Israel Hilton Buker’s children.1 This book does not include Israel Hilton Buker’s birthdate to our knowledge so we are not fully sure Israel Hilton Buker’s birthdate is accurate. Hannah Hilton’s birthdate is recorded as 22 Feb 1756 which would conflict with the April date for Israel.2
Utilizing the same autosomal testers as the Israel Hilton Buker study the following evidence is now available for researchers to determine whether they believe Margaret Bartlett is the mother of Israel Hilton and to give interested parties structure to support determining the biological mother of Israel Hilton Buker.

John Bartlett’s son Jeremiah’s daughter Margaret married Seth Ballou while daughter Hannah married Silas Ballou. Both Ballou groups descend from Mathurin Ballou m. Hannah Pike. There is circumstantial evidence supporting our family groupings also directly descend from Mathurin Ballou m. Hannah Pike but this relationship is yet to be uncovered other than mapping showing several descendants of these ancestors. Mathurin Ballou was the governor of Rhode Island.

Joanna descends from the immigrant John Howard Bartlett b. 1613, the shoe cobbler, from Ernley, Sussex, England. This is the same ancestor shared with the spouses of Margaret and Hannah Ballou. Obadiah Ballou b. 1689 m. Darmaris Bartlett. Darmaris descending from John Bartlett m. Sarah Aldrich (son of John Howard Bartlett). Obadiah descending from Mathurin Ballou m. Hannah Pike. Margaret Ballou m. John Benson’s son Job Benson married Phila Aldrich. Phila descends from George Aldrich m. Katherine Seald.
Sarah Ballou b.1732 m. Samuel Pickering - I am not sure how these tie together yet but Pickering is a name coming up in our cluster triangulation grouping. Sarah descends from Mathurin Ballou m. Hannah Pike.
